Indian influences were paramount for many centuries in Southeast Asia and many of the monuments visited by tourists date back to that period. Besides, in most countries, there is nowadays a sizeable Indian community whose temples can be visited. However, it is not always easy to understand what one sees. This lecture gives a summary of some of the tenets of Hinduism and explains how some of the major figures can be identified.
